Changes in terms and conditions of Finnair Airlines passenger transportation due to coronavirus:
at present some countries have restricted non-essential trips: the current restrictions, other information and advisories on entering foreign countries for US citizens;

please note that entering many countries requires filling in the contact form (sometimes it is also necessary to get a QR code), providing the results of the preliminary passed  negative antigen (done not later than 48 hours before departure) or PCR test (no more than 72) for coronavirus and/or self-isolation (quarantine) with the duration from 5 (under condition of passing the repeated tests) and up to 14 days upon arrival in the destination country; you may also encounter complete restriction on entry for foreign nationals or the need to provide proof of vaccination/revaccination;

wearing a protective mask covering both your nose and mouth is mandatory for all passengers over 6 years of age at all stages of the flight: when boarding / disembarking and during the flight. Surgical or home-made masks made of tightly woven fabric will do; face screens, masks with valves or scarves are not allowed.

! Infants (children under 2 years) travel on the lap of an accompanying person at 10% of the normal fare and for children under 11 years of age there's a 25% discount on most fares.

Finnair Airlines hand luggage:

1x piece with sum of three dimensions 118 cm (55х40х23 cm)

+ Finnair allows to take on board small personal items (40x30x15 cm: umbrella, handbag, briefcase, walking stick/cane, books, laptop, camcorder, camera, bag with Duty Free purchases and so on)

! below you see the maximum combined weight of all items Children under 2 years traveling on the lap of an accompanying person are not allowed to carry any hand luggage. A collapsible stroller that meets cabin baggage restrictions on weight and size may be carried in the cabin, but only in place of the main piece of carry-on baggage. For children with a specially for them reserved seat: baggage allowance does not differ from that of an adult. A collapsible stroller or a child car seat will be transported free of charge, regardless of the child's fare or the availability of a reserved seat.more info  

Finnair Airlines Checked Baggage:

Items of hold baggage with the sum of three dimensions not larger than 158 cm.

Flights to/from Japan: for all Economy Class checked baggage allowance is 2 PC.
Flights from India to the US: for all Economy Class checked baggage is 2 PC. ! Applies to all fares (except Economy Light, which does not allow carriage of checked baggage): for children under 2 years only one piece of baggage is allowed.

Passengers with disabilities, as well as those needing any assistance from the airline staff, are advised to notify the airline not later than 48 hours prior to the scheduled departure about the intention to use the services of the airline.

Wheelchairs and other mobility aids are always transported at no charge (allowable weight and dimensions differ depending on the type of aircraft), but only on if the airline was notified about their transportation not later than 48 hours before departure and there is room for it in the hold of the aircraft. more info  

Finnair Airlines excess baggage charges:

The maximum number of bags for one booking is 10, up to three additional pieces of baggage / sports equipment can be purchased online in advance.

Standard piece of checked baggage: max dimensions 158 cm and weight max 23 kg.
A heavy bag charge applies to baggage with the maximum weight up to 32 kg and/or maximum dimensions up to 190x75x65 cm.

Fees in €, online or travel agency / at the airport ! Online you can book up to 3 additional bags of standard weight and dimensions, if your flight number starts with letters AY and the ticket number with 105.more info  

Finnair Airlines carriage of pets:

Pets (dogs, cats, rabbits and rodents) carried in the aircraft cabin. The size of the container must not exceed 118 cm in the sum of three dimensions (55х40х23 cm or 55x40x20 cm on Norra operated flights) for soft and 35x30x20 for hard pet carrier, the weight of the container (with pet/pets) must not exceed 8 kg.

Pets are not allowed in Business Class cabin on intercontinental flights. Pets (birds) carried in the baggage compartment on Finnair flights, the weight of the container (with pet/pets) must not exceed 50 kg. A pet weighing over 40 kg must be transported in a strong transportation box. Certified service animals accompanying people with disabilities will be carried free of charge, if the airline was notified at least 48 hrs. prior to the departure.more info  

Finnair Airlines carriage of special baggage: sports equipment, firearms and ammunition:

Sports equipment (golf, diving, fishing, hockey, walking poles etc.) not exceeding baggage allowance (23 kg and 158 cm) is included in the baggage allowance. Packed separately it's considered to be a separate piece of baggage.
For sports equipment exceeding the free baggage allowance standard rates for excess baggage will be applied.

Exceptions
Ski and snowboard equipment: length up to 220 cm, otherwise heavy bag charge will apply. Packed separately ski (snowboard) boots (helm etc.) considered to be additional piece of baggage.

Bicycles: prior notification of Finnair is required (during reservation or filling out special baggage transportation form later), a transportation fee will be charge.

Surfboards: up to 190 cm and 23 kg considered standard baggage, in other case and for carriage of windsurfing boards, canoes and kayaks an extra charge will be collected at the airport.

Diving equipment: for carrying air tanks a heavy bag fee will be collected at the airport.
Sporting and hunting firearms: prior approval of Finnair is needed (you'll have to fill out special baggage transportation form). There's a mandatory handling fee for every firearm case. A firearm and ammunition must be packed in separate suitcases.more info  

Finnair Airlines carriage of musical instruments:

Musical instruments are included in the baggage allowance.

Larger musical instruments up to 32 kg and/or 190x75x65 cm will be carried for an additional heavy bag charge. Instruments exceeding this measures can be carried with prior approval of Finnair (fill out special baggage transportation form or contact customer service).

When carried in the passenger's seat, the weight of the instrument usually must not exceed 80 kg, and its size must not exceed 135х50х30 cm.more info
