Changes in terms and conditions of Air Malta passenger transportation due to coronavirus: not relevant at the moment.

Air Malta Airlines hand luggage:

1 piece of carry-on baggage with the sum of three dimensions 120 cm (55x40x25 cm)

for Go Light / Smart / Flex fares, Air Malta allows to take on board small personal items not exceeding 40x30x15 cm and up to 2 kg (camera bags, small umbrellas, notebook / tablet cases and purses: you must be prepared to pack these items in your main hand baggage).

+ in addition, it is allowed to carry a bag with duty free purchases.

! At the moment only laptop bags, handbags and baby bags are guaranteed to be allowed on board, other hand luggage may be restricted and will have to be checked in the hold at no extra charge.

! Hand baggage exceeding the maximum weight or dimensions, second pieces (such as larger handbags, backpacks, second hand baggage and so on) will be subject to a charge of €60 per bag at the departure gate (can only be paid by card) For infants and children: you can bring on board such items as a collapsible stroller (will be stowed in the hold), a car seat or a diaper bag; if you have reserved a seat for your infant child (younger than 2 years), it's recommended that you bring your own child safety seat: you'll have to send an email to Air Malta passenger handling team at least 24 hours prior to your scheduled departure to confirm that the type of seat you own will be allowed on board. For babies (children up to 2 years) traveling on the lap of an adult accompanying person, no hand luggage is provided.

Passengers with disabilities and special requirements, those needing assistance of the airline staff should contact the airline at the time of booking or not later than 48 hrs before departure.
Passengers with restricted mobility can carry crutches or other mobility aids at no extra fee. If you require special assistance with your mobility needs, Air Malta requires that another passenger travels with you. If you require a wheelchair or other type of mobility aid, please contact reservations at least 48 hours before your flight, max 2 pieces of mobility equipment per person with a disability or person with reduced mobility can be booked.

For all passengers with Economy tickets: in the case of a flight being full or nearly full, only the first 100 wheelie bags on an A320 aircraft or the first 80 on an A319 at the gate will be permitted in the cabin, all the remaining hand baggage will be placed in the aircraft hold (free of charge, if it has the approved weight and dimensions).
Business Class ticket holders, Flypass Diamond & Permanent members and families travelling with young children are offered priority boarding.more info  

Air Malta Airline Checked Baggage:

Go Light: no Free Bags.

No piece of checked baggage can weight more than 32 kg. All pieces of baggage in excess of 32 kg must be repacked in separate bags. Usually the sum of three dimensions of any hold baggage item must not be larger than 158 cm Except Go Light product with no checked baggage: infants (0 up to 2 years) are allowed 10 kg of checked baggage per infant.

Children and minors (2 years and up to the 12th birthday date) are allowed the same amount of checked baggage as adult person with the same fare.

! For students flying with the Go Smart fare, Air Malta allows to carry an additional bag up to 23 kg free of charge!more info

Air Malta Airline carriage of pets:

Service animals accompanying persons with disabilities can travel in the aircraft cabin for free, this service requires prior notification and consent of the airline.

Pets (cats and dogs) carried in the aircraft cabin. The size of the container must not exceed 40х34х20 cm, the weight of the container (with pet/pets) must not exceed 10 kg. This service is booked by phone and costs €70 per segment.

Pets (cats, dogs, hares, rabbits, ferrets and birds) carried in the baggage compartment on Air Malta flights, the weight of the container (with pet/pets) must not exceed 32 kg, its volumetric weight up to 60 kg and height max 100 cm. You should fill in a special form more info  

Air Malta Airline carriage of special baggage: sports equipment, firearms and ammunition:

Abseiling, archery, cricket, dance sports, diving, fencing, football hockey, kite surfing, rock climbing, skiing, tennis equipment, bicycles, bowling balls (maximum four balls plus shoes), croquet clubs, golf clubs, sailing kits, water skis and firearms*: € 40 per flight when booked on Air Malta website min 4 hrs prior to departure (and € 50 if bought at the airport).

! All sports baggage items not listed above are charged as excess baggage.

Air Malta Airlines carriage of musical instruments:

Musical instruments are included in the baggage allowance (as carry-on or checked baggage). A fee of €40 will be charged if the allowance is exceeded.

Small musical instruments (violins, violas, piccolos, flutes, clarinets, bugles, trumpets and guitars) can be carried instead of your hand baggage, their weight can not exceed 10 kg.

When carried in the passenger's seat, the weight of the instrument usually must not exceed 80 kg, and its size must not exceed 135х50х30 cm.more info
