Changes in terms and conditions of Swiss Airlines passenger transportation due to coronavirus:
at present some countries have restricted non-essential trips: the current restrictions, other information and advisories on entering foreign countries for US citizens;

please note that entering many countries requires filling in the contact form (to enter Switzerland, it is obligatory to fill in the electronic passenger locator, ePLF) or sometimes it is necessary to get a QR code, provide the results of a previously passed negative antigen test (usually not later than 48 hours before travel, for Switzerland — 24 hours for all passengers over 12 years of age) or PCR test (no more than 72 hours before departure) for coronavirus and/or self-isolation (quarantine) with the duration from 5 (under condition of passing the repeated tests) and up to 14 days upon arrival in the destination country; for foreign citizens, there may also be total restriction on entry into a particular country or proof of vaccination/revaccination may be required;

wearing a protective mask covering both your nose and mouth is still mandatory for all passengers over the age of 12 at all stages of the flight: when boarding / disembarking and during the flight; the airline recommends to find out in advance the type of masks that can be used on board. In general, surgical and/or valveless masks with increased protective properties are allowed at the rate of one mask per 3-4 hours of flight unless otherwise specified by the manufacturer. Masks with valve, protective shields, shawls, scarves, etc. are not permitted.

With Swiss Airlines, Infants (children up to 2 years of age) can travel on an adult’s lap at  a discount of up to 90% of the applicable fare.

For an infant (a child under 2 years) on Swiss Airlines flights, it's allowed to take a fully collapsible stroller / buggy free of charge (you can use it until boarding the plane). A baby car seat (approved for use on air transport) can be carried for a child with a separate seat. You can take baby food for the duration of flight (in bottles up to 100 ml).

Passengers with disabilities and special requirements, those needing assistance of the airline staff should contact the airline at the time of booking or not later than 72 hrs before departure.
Passengers with restricted mobility may carry one pair of crutches, arm or leg splints, other kinds of prostheses in the cabin free of charge. Collapsible manual wheelchairs can be used until the moment of boarding the plane. Carriage of powered wheelchairs and other electric mobility aids requires prior notification and consent of the airline, they'll be handled as an item of checked baggage, if needed, passengers are provided with free wheelchairs.more info

For a baby (children under 2 years), you can carry a collapsible stroller / buggy, as well as one piece of baggage weighing up to 23 kg free of charge (! except for the Light fare)

Swiss International Airlines excess baggage charges:

Standard piece of baggage 23 kg, heavy 24-32 kg, oversized more than 158 cm.

All items heavier than 32 kg will be transported only as cargo.

For passengers with Economy Light Fare on European routes: additional standard bag will cost you from 25 / 50, for domestic flights (within Switzerland) — 15 / 50, for intercontinental flights the price will be from 60 / 90 €.

On flights between the United States / Canada / Mexico / Central American countries (Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama) and the rest of the world, special rates apply for a second piece of checked baggage weighing up to 23 kg and measuring up to 158 cm: 80 / 90 €.

Pets (dogs and cats) carried in the aircraft cabin*. The size of the container must not exceed 118 cm in the sum of three dimensions: 55х40х23 cm, the weight of the container (with pet/pets) must not exceed 8 kg.
* Not allowed in Business and First Class on the Airbus 330/340

Pets (dogs, cats, hares and rabbits) carried in the baggage compartment, the weight of the container (with pet/pets) exceeds 8 kg.
! From January 1st, 2020, the transportation of snub-nosed (brachycephalic) breeds of dogs and cats or hares and rabbits in the cargo hold is no longer allowed.

Swiss International Airlines carriage of special baggage: sports equipment, firearms and ammunition:

According to the baggage rules of Swiss Airlines, sports equipment is included in the baggage allowance.

For sports equipment exceeding the free baggage allowance standard rates for excess baggage will be applied or you can pay for your sports equipment separately.

! When carrying ski equipment and boards (including snowboards), only the length counts, equipment not exceeding 200 cm in length is considered standard.

Type 1: bikes**, boogieboards, bodyboards, kite surfboards, inline skates, skateboards, surfboards, wakeboards, javelin, archery, fishing, golf, ice hockey, bowling, parachute, mountaineering, hillwalking and nordic walking, scuba diving, ski*, waterski, snowboard*, tennis, squash, badminton equipment, sporting and hunting firearms and ammunition**.

Type 2: windsurf, hang gliding, equestrian, pole vault** equipment, canoes / kayaks**, longboards, rubber dinghies, tandem bikes**.

Swiss International Airlines carriage of musical instruments:

Musical instruments are included in the baggage allowance and can be carried instead of carry-on or hold baggage pieces, but in this case the carrier is not liable for their damage.
When carried in the passenger's seat, the weight of the instrument usually must not exceed 80 kg, and its size must not exceed 135х50х30 cm (depends on the aircraft type). The service is not available on codeshare flights.
