Changes in terms and conditions of KLM Airlines passenger transportation due to coronavirus:
at present some countries have restricted non-essential trips: the current restrictions, other information and advisories on entering foreign countries for US citizens;

please note that entering many countries requires filling in the contact form (sometimes it is also necessary to get a QR code), providing the results of the preliminary passed  negative antigen (done not later than 48 hours before departure) or PCR test (no more than 72) for coronavirus and/or self-isolation (quarantine) with the duration from 5 (under condition of passing the repeated tests) and up to 14 days upon arrival in the destination country; you may also encounter complete restriction on entry for foreign nationals or the need to provide proof of vaccination/revaccination;

wearing a protective mask covering both your nose and mouth is mandatory for all passengers over 10 years of age from invitation to board the aircraft until disembarking, the airline also recommends the use of a mask everywhere at the airport. Surgical or masks with increased protective properties without valve are usually allowed, one mask for about 3 hours of flight.

! Infants under 1 year old must travel on the lap of an adult companion. Special fares are available for children and infants, discounts are calculated automatically and depend on the selected fare, destination and flight date.

KLM Airlines hand luggage:

1 piece of carry-on baggage with the sum of three dimensions 115 cm (55х35х25 cm)

+ Dutch Airlines allow carriage of small personal items (40x30x15 cm: such as handbag, briefcase, laptop bag with Duty Free purchases and so on)

! Below is the max weight of all your items For an infant (up to 2 years) traveling on the lap of an accompanying adult person, one can carry a  piece of hand luggage with baby care items weighing no more than 12 kg. All children traveling on booked for them seats can carry the same amount of carry-on and checked baggage as adult passengers with the same fare. A collapsible stroller or a child car seat will be transported on KLM flights free of charge.

Passengers with disabilities and special requirements, those needing assistance of the airline staff should contact the airline at the time of booking or not later than 48 hrs before departure.
Passengers with reduced mobility can take their crutches, walkers or canes on board free of charge and without prior registration. Electric and mechanical wheelchairs are transported at no additional cost, but their carriage requires prior notification and consent of the airline.more info  

KLM Airlines Checked Baggage:

The sum of three dimensions of any hold baggage item must not be larger than 158 cm. ** In some cases Economy Class passengers can carry the second piece of baggage free of charge: 2 pieces of checked baggage up to 23 kg each on flights from Paris and/or Amsterdam to Africa (excluding Cape Town); between the USA and/or Canada and/or Mexico to Africa; on routes with 1st flight from Brazil (valid only for tickets purchased in Brazil); on flights to/from Antananarivo, Moroni, Noumea or Zaudzi. ** No checked baggage for Economy Light

For an infant (a child under 2 years) traveling on the lap of an accompanying person, the checked baggage allowance depends on that person's ticket type (no hold baggage with the Light fare). more info  

KLM Airlines excess baggage charges:

Standard piece of baggage: 23 kg and no more than 158 cm.

Heavy piece of baggage: 23-32 kg, oversized more than 158 cm.

KLM Airlines carriage of pets:

Pets (cats and dogs) carried in the aircraft cabin on Dutch Airlines flights (within Europe also in the Business Class cabin). The size of a soft bag must not exceed 46x28x24 and the size of a hard kennel : 46x28x20 cm, the weight of the container (with pet/pets) no more than 8 kg.

Pets (dog or cat) carried in the baggage compartment, the weight of the container (with pet/pets) must not exceed 75 kg and its size no more than 292 cm in the sum of three dimensions.

Fees in € * On Intra-Caribbean routes: €30 for transportation in the cabin and 75 in the baggage compartment.

! If a pet travels as check-in baggage and the transfer at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol takes longer than 2 hours, an extra fee of €150 (or $/CAD 200) will apply.

Certified service animals accompanying people with disabilities can travel in the cabin free of charge, but first you need to fill in a special Application Form Guide Dog and send it to KLM.more info  

KLM Airlines carriage of special baggage: sports equipment, firearms and ammunition:

According to baggage rules of  on Dutch Airlines flights, sports equipment not exceeding baggage allowance (23 or 32 kg depending on your travel class and max 300 cm) is included in the free baggage allowance.

Surfboards, scuba tanks, bicycles and tandems are transported as special baggage for an additional fee.

The transportation of sporting and hunting weapons and up to 5 kg ammunition (as checked baggage) requires prior notification and consent of the airline. Contact KLM customer service for more information.more info  

KLM Airlines carriage of musical instruments:

Musical instruments are included in the baggage allowance.

To a musical instrument weighing more than 23 kg (up to 32 kg) or more than 158 cm in the sum of three dimensions (up to 300 cm) the excess baggage fee will apply.

Transportation of instruments weighing more than 32 kg and with the sum of three dimensions more than 300 cm must be confirmed by KLM, transportation fees you can find in the table below.
When carried in the passenger's seat, the weight of the instrument must not exceed 45 kg, and its length 140 cm.more info
